I have been a visionary story teller all my life. I have been drawing, painting, making stuff from small-scale paintings to huge murals to record life’s journeys. I have profound dreams and meditations, showing me images about transformation and growth. I believe a painting can hold an individual lesson for each person to experience. It can help guide a person to a new place of understanding. As an artist you hope for the ability to bring a little joy and a new perspective to the person who passes by your work.
I graduated from Parsons School of Design with a B.F.A in Environmental Design in 1989. Later I went to Spain and Vienna to study the Dutch Master’s egg tempera technique. I have been painting the West and the beauty of the rocks since I moved to Colorado in 1992. I own and operate my studio art space in North Boulder at the Holiday Neighborhood.

Fine Art
Egg tempera, oils, acrylic, oil pastel, art furniture
Using the 400 year old Dutch mische egg tempera technique, images are vivid and long lasting. Egg tempera uses a laying process created with varnish and a whole egg. Each painting is created using an underpainting and laying oil color over the egg tempera. The layers create depth and 3-dimensions in the piece. A piece can last 100s of years
Murals
Acrylic with UV protective coating
Acrylic is used for all indoor and outdoor murals. The acrylic is painted in a layering underpainting process. Starting with blue, brown or green with white highlights added. The underpainting is then glazed in layers of acrylic color. This is a highly durable surface when sealed with UV acrylic coating.

I work one-on-one with every client, from a local resident, to a commercial owner or municipality. A good commission starts with design sketches to work through the concepts. I work with the client to pick out color, scale, concept and pricing before I start the piece. I give a clear time frame and finalize the price with a signed contract. I paint the piece and encourage my clients to review progress, to have an understanding of what is being painted. I then clear coat the piece for a lasting durable piece of art for the home or community.
